Hugh O’Flaherty is a Kerry man who died in 1963. Having organised an escape for Allied POW’s and civilians in during WW2. he and his colleagues had saved over 6,500 lives. It is the aim of the Memorial Committee to ensure that there is a permanent and fitting tribute to him in his home town of Killarney and to raise greater awareness of his great deeds in the community and in Ireland.
