A portion of every entry fee will be donated directly to help raise funds for the Hugh O'Flaherty Memorial. Hugh O'Flaherty is a Kerry man who died in 1963. Having organised an escape for Allied POW’s and civilians in during WW2. he and his colleagues had saved over 6,500 lives. It is the aim of the Memorial Committee to ensure that there is a permanent and fitting tribute to him in his home town of Killarney and to raise greater awareness of his great deeds in the community and in Ireland. CRY is a registered Irish Charity, established in 2002 by parents and relatives
who have experienced the effects of sudden and unexplained deaths within their families.
CRY's AIMS are to:
- raise awareness about sudden cardiac death;
- provide counselling and support to families' affected;
- fundraising and ongoing support for CRYP Centre
